Starkey has completed a successful roadshow introducing its new Edge AI hearing aids to audiologists and audiometrists throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Several hundred clinicians and independent business owners attended the roadshow events in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane in February; Christchurch, Auckland and Perth in March; and Newcastle in April.

Audiologist Ms Dawn Rollings, managing director of Starkey Hearing Technologies ANZ, was among team members who presented.

“With the launch of our groundbreaking hearing device, Edge AI, we embarked on a nationwide roadshow, inviting clinicians to experience firsthand the transformative power of this innovative technology,” she said.

“Witnessing their reactions as they listened to the clarity and precision of Edge AI was truly inspiring, reaffirming our commitment to revolutionising hearing care.

“Each attendee was given a pair of demonstration Edge AI hearing aids to participate in sound demos and instantly they could hear the huge difference in sound and clarity.”

She said Starkey’s Starlink Edge TV Streamer with Auracast capability was also a hit with clinicians who were impressed with how seamless it was to connect the hearing devices to the TV Streamer.

“This feature can be demonstrated at their clinics and in their waiting rooms,” she said. “Some didn’t want to give back their demo devices because they were that impressed!”

The roadshow followed an endorsed product launch webinar on 4 February 2025 and a three-part webinar series which offers CEP/CPD points and is still available to view.

People’s choice best exhibit award

Edge AI was also in the spotlight on the Starkey stand at trade expos of Audiology Australia (AudA) and Hearing Business Alliance (HBA) major events this year. Dr Judy Grobstein, regional training and education director-Asia Pacific at Starkey Hearing Technologies, also presented at both events.

Edge AI featured at the Audiology Australia 2025 Conference in Adelaide from 1-4 April, attended by more than 1,000 delegates, and the Hearing Business Alliance 2025 Seminar in Melbourne from 28 February to 2 March which was attended by 184 delegates.

The Starkey stand achieved the people’s choice best exhibit award at the Audiology Australia conference, grabbing delegates’ attention for innovation, creativity and an engaging experience.

Presentations during the roadshow and conferences highlighted ‘best in industry’ Edge AI features including:

  • The industry’s first DNN (deep neural network) powered speech probability predictor which leads to 30% more accurate speech identification than existing hearing aids plus ‘pure, clean sound’ and seamless processing.
  • DNN processing which is 100 times more powerful than existing technology, enhancing sound clarity and streaming range.
  • The new G2 Neuro Processor which features the industry’s only neural processing unit (NPU) fully integrated into the chip. It mimics the way a normal brain processes information to classify complex soundscapes, enhance speech and reduce noise in real time using advanced AI.
  • Improved signal-to-noise ratios in noisy environments with a 6dB reduction in low-level noise, and a two-fold increase in streaming range.
  • The industry’s best 51 hours’ battery life.
  • Seventh generation artificial intelligence technology which delivers unparalleled speech enhancement and noise reduction.
  • Connectivity: Next generation Bluetooth radio: LE Audio. Capable of streaming to more devices than ever and supports Auracast broadcast streaming.
