OPSM has started delivering audiology services in Australia and New Zealand, and its Nuance Audio Glasses for people with mild to moderate hearing loss are also on sale, its parent company EssilorLuxottica has announced.
EssilorLuxottica said it had recently launched its first direct-to-consumer audiology service, with the goal of audiology being in at least nine practices across ANZ by the end of the year, and additional locations to be consistently added over 2026.
OPSM stores that are live with audiology are Highpoint and Dandenong in Victoria, while Castle Towers, Sydney was due to open on Friday 24 October 2025, an EssilorLuxottica spokesperson told HPA.
“Vision and hearing loss affect similar demographics, particularly older adults, and integrating eye and hearing tests in the same location provides a more holistic and efficient approach for our patients by addressing multiple sensory issues at a single point of service,” Essilor Luxottica said in a media release on 20 October 2025.
“The introduction of audiology services marks a significant milestone in OPSM’s commitment to providing customers with accessible, integrated care for two of their most important senses.
“By offering hearing screenings, full hearing assessments and hearing aid fittings, OPSM now provides comprehensive sensory care under one roof.”
Combined screening was the ultimate ideal solution as an integrated approach could lead to earlier detection of impairments and mitigate the negative impact of hearing and vision loss on quality of life, the company said.

Ms Naomi Nicolinas, ANZ director of audiology services at EssilorLuxottica said: “By bringing professional audiology services into our OPSM network we are extending our promise of everyday excellence to hearing health, offering comprehensive, coordinated care for those facing sensory decline.
“Together, we can better support our communities’ well-being, accessibility, and connection to the world.”
With more than 3.6 million Australians and over 880,000 New Zealanders experiencing hearing loss, EssilorLuxottica said it recognised a critical opportunity and responsibility to expand into audiology services.
“The rising prevalence of dual sensory impairment (dual loss of vision and hearing), which affects up to 3% of adults aged 60-69 and nearly 22% of those aged 80 plus, underscores the importance of integrated sensory care for helping to preserve independence, communication, and quality of life,” it said.
Nuance Audio Glasses
Meanwhile, Nuance Audio Glasses, an innovation aimed at helping customers with mild to moderate hearing loss, are on sale in OPSM, Laubman & Pank, and EyeQ optometry stores, the EssilorLuxottica spokesperson told HPA.
OPSM has nearly 400 stores across Australia and New Zealand while Laubman & Pank has 38 nationwide and EyeQ has 25.
“Nuance is an over the counter (OTC) hearing aid so optometrists and retail dispensers can sell them,” she said. “There is no requirement of a hearing test beforehand.”
The glasses will also be available at independent audiology and optometry stores in Australia, she said.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration approved them for supply in Australia on 19 August 2025 and listed them on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods.
“The air conduction hearing aid is intended to amplify sound for users with hearing impairment and is intended to be used in association with prescription spectacle lenses for the correction of visual defects,” the TGA said.

The glasses have directional microphones and open-ear speakers embedded in their frame arms.
EssilorLuxottica announced in February 2025 it had received approval from the FDA and EU certifications enabling them to be sold in America and Europe. They are available in the US, Italy, France and Germany online and from certain optical and audiology stores.
The company said the glasses were an invisible open-ear hearing solution that blends sound engineering and smart eyewear design for a stylish, high-tech solution.
Optional lens upgrades, which are not required for use, include customising the glasses with the client’s preferred optical lenses. Nuance comes with plano Transitions (which is not an extra and includes blue violet light filtering). Extras are prescriptions, coating or alternative lenses to Transitions.
The product includes a wireless charging pad and a companion app personalises the listening experience.
“They use directional microphones and open-ear speakers to provide a comfortable and natural listening experience,” the company said in the media release.
“The product enables users to focus on the voices that matter most, strengthening their connections and making every day experiences like dining in crowded restaurants or working in bustling offices more enjoyable and accessible.”
