The Department of Health and Aged Care has released a new fact sheet for Hearing Services Program providers that answers questions it frequently receives about service delivery.
The 10-page document for contracted service providers collates questions and answers about various aspects of service delivery to help clinics meet requirements of the program.
Topics range from charging fees to device trials, evidence requirements, refitting, revalidations and telehealth. It also contains useful online links.
The Department of Health and Aged Care manages the Australian Government Hearing Services Program that provides subsidised high-quality hearing services and devices to eligible Australians.
In 2022-2023, more than 802,000 Australians received support from the program, 1.4 million services were delivered and 441,750 hearing devices were fitted.
The program has been delivered for more than 20 years. The department is currently reviewing ways it can be improved to make it better for clients and simpler for providers.
Surveys for the public and hearing professionals to have their say closed on 2 April.
The fact sheet can be found here.
