During National Reconciliation Week 2025, Hearing Australia’s First Nations Services Unit is offering free online professional development (PD) for educators and teachers.
From 27 May to 5 June, Hearing Australia is offering live, instructor-led online learning modules for early childhood education and care service educators, primary school teachers, support staff, and anyone else who is interested.
Commemorated across Australia from 27 May to 3 June, National Reconciliation Week reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. Its theme, Bridging Now to Next, calls on all Australians “to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us”.
The start and end date of the week acknowledge the successful 1967 referendum on 27 May and the High Court Mabo decision on 3 June.
Hearing Australia said people could choose from a variety of practical modules to gain tips to better support children’s hearing and learning and meet professional requirements under the Disability Standards for Education and National Quality Framework.
Learners can choose between self-paced or a live classroom training environment. In these sessions, participants can see, hear and speak to the presenter during the upskilling and engage with others.

Audiology Australia (AudA) said, on its website: “We have critical work to do in hearing health, which can only be achieved through our collective strength.
“We can and must do more to reduce high rates of hearing loss, ear disease and otitis media among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.”
AudA reminded people of its free cultural training video,Working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Families.
“The video will equip you and your clinic team with tools and insights to deliver culturally responsive care,” AudA said.
It details easily implemented and practical tools and approaches including:
- Asking meaningful questions and deep listening
- The art of taking client history
- Exploring results
- Insights tailored to resonate across diverse practice settings.
While developed by audiologists, for audiologists, the training is also applicable to ENTs and other hearing health professionals.
